You Asked for it You Got it!

A few years ago I coordinated an event for entrepreneurs. The idea was simple…to celebrate and educate what I feel are the most important group of people on the planet. The people, who without them, nothing happens in society. Nothing!

The event was called the New Brunswick Entrepreneurs Summit and we are going to do another Summit this year. Actually the date is October 18th at the Fredericton Convention Ctr. in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

And this time around the speakers are going to rock, we have an Entrepreneurs Expo with amazing attendees and the delegate list is incredible.

The Shot In The Arm That We Need

Let’s say we lived in a city or a province at a turning point. Great potential and a bright future but a little unsure of itself and what it wants to be at the moment. In a place built on mega-projects, it feels like New Brunswick is just waiting for the next big announcement.

A good, solid shot in the arm might be a big help right now. Something that gives purpose and energy to a community, beyond just the individuals that are part of it. Not a big announcement, but a big event.

What if we could gather a few of the biggest turnaround stories in modern history, in one place, to share their stories of rebuilding from a low point?

The mayor of one of the world’s greatest cities, attacked and crippled, then rebuilt and reborn.
The leader of a chronically have-not province that collected its assets and built the leading economy in the nation.
The builder of some of the flashiest and most extravagent ventures in the world, repeatedly humbled, and always ready to rebuild.

Spark is the event that is bringing these people – Rudy Guiliani, Danny Wiliams, and Donald Trump – to Saint John, New Brunswick on October 6 for the shot in the arm our region needs at a point in our history when we are finally learning to build our own successes and trust in our own strengths.

Time To Build

There are no mega-projects on our horizon.

New businesses are emerging daily and our best and brightest are learning what it means to be builders, leaders, and social entrepreneurs. This is what it takes to build a sustainable economy and I’m happy to be here to see it.

I listed the speakers above in the order of my own personal interest. Rudy Guiliani will be here just days after the 10th anniversary of the famous attack on the city he led as Mayor – New York. And these 3 people will never share a stage again. One time only. Right here.

I am on the Spark board and have also been hired to help with community engagement. I sought out these roles because the people who are putting on this event are big thinkers and doers and their energy and perspective has been a pleasure to be around for me for a few years now.

This event will sell out. Join us for the shot in the arm our community needs.

Starting A Business In Nova Scotia

Welcome to RiversCorbett.me!  I am sure you will find this blog very helpful on your journey of starting a small business in Nova Scotia.  My passion in life is helping other would be entrepreneurs build a successful business of their own and living the rewarding life that accompanies this chosen profession.

If you truly are interested in starting a business in Nova Scotia, you are in for an incredible journey!!

 Nova Scotia is booming and growing like gang busters.   In fact in my estimate there has never been a better time then now in regards to starting a small business in Nova Scotia.

How ever the question I always get is “Where do I begin?”

Do you presently have an idea for a small business, but are confused on how to get started and where to begin?  Starting a business in Nova Scotia or anywhere for that matter can be a daunting task for anyone, let alone someone who is new to the self-employed arena.

But it does not have to be.  Success in business in the end is really about following your passion and sticking with it until your dream comes to fruition. 

And this is where I can help you, as I have helped numerous other would be small business owners get on the right path to success, through either the high powered action oriented content you will find on this blog, or through my training newsletters that you can sign up for on this site, and for those really serious people through my one on one coaching and mentoring.

But to begin with the first step you want to take in regards to starting a small business in Nova Scotia, is to determine what type of business you are going to start.  Basically come up with your idea for your business.  Again as mentioned you want to make sure that it is your passion!

As the old saying goes “Find a way to have someone pay you for what you love doing and you will never work again!”

Then you need to determine what is the best method to get your new business up and running.  Do you need funding to get started?  Or can you start small and build your way up into an empire?

Writing a business plan is advised in order to get all of your ideas and plans on paper.  You can then modify and change them as you go.

However do not get stuck in the trap of thinking you have to have everything figured out.  Too many people get stuck in the “Planning” stage and never get into the game where the actually money is made.

The key to anything, whether it is starting a business in Nova Scotia or running a marathon is to get started.
