Nova Scotia is booming and growing like gang busters. In fact in my estimate there has never been a better time then now in regards to starting a small business in Nova Scotia.
How ever the question I always get is “Where do I begin?”
Do you presently have an idea for a small business, but are confused on how to get started and where to begin? Starting a business in Nova Scotia or anywhere for that matter can be a daunting task for anyone, let alone someone who is new to the self-employed arena.
But it does not have to be. Success in business in the end is really about following your passion and sticking with it until your dream comes to fruition.

But to begin with the first step you want to take in regards to starting a small business in Nova Scotia, is to determine what type of business you are going to start. Basically come up with your idea for your business. Again as mentioned you want to make sure that it is your passion!
As the old saying goes “Find a way to have someone pay you for what you love doing and you will never work again!”
Then you need to determine what is the best method to get your new business up and running. Do you need funding to get started? Or can you start small and build your way up into an empire?
Writing a business plan is advised in order to get all of your ideas and plans on paper. You can then modify and change them as you go.
However do not get stuck in the trap of thinking you have to have everything figured out. Too many people get stuck in the “Planning” stage and never get into the game where the actually money is made.
The key to anything, whether it is starting a business in Nova Scotia or running a marathon is to get started.
